Host an Arriving Refugee
Host families provide a safe, hospitable place for refugees for up to two weeks after they arrive and begin to connect refugees with life-giving, life-sustaining relationships. Many refugee families step off the plane in Seattle and don’t know a single person.
Host families welcome arriving refugees at the airport. They also provide:
- Food and housing for one to two weeks
- Basic lessons on home appliance use
- Instruction on basic housekeeping skills
- Introduction to the community (grocery store, post office, etc.)
Prior to hosting, families must:
- Fill out an application, including a background check
- Attend a volunteer orientation
- Have a home visit from the volunteer coordinator
If you are interesting in hosting a family, please contact:
